How to Get the Kingdom Key in Fortnite: Mythic & Override Guide

How do you get the Kingdom Key in Fortnite?

The Kingdom Key is now live in Fortnite. Epic’s first-party launch announcement confirms one direct Mythic acquisition method: activate the Level Up Override. It spawns a Mythic Kingdom Key for each squad member at their current location.

What does the Level Up Override do?

The Kingdom Hearts Level Up Override is a squad Override. When activated, it gives each squad member a Mythic Kingdom Key at their current position.

This means you do not need to own the Sora skin or buy a cosmetic Keyblade to use the gameplay weapon. Shop ownership and Battle Royale loot are separate systems.

What abilities does the Kingdom Key have?

Epic confirms two core functions:

• melee combo attacks;
• a lightning attack that calls down a bolt on opponents.

Exact damage, cooldown and balance values can change independently of the official ability description, so those numbers should only be added after verified current-build testing.

Could you get a guaranteed Kingdom Key during Power Hours?

Yes. Epic ran KINGDOM HEARTS Power Hours on September 19, 2026 from 2–4 PM ET and 9–11 PM ET. During those windows, every player started with a Kingdom Key and a Sea Salt Ice Cream.

Those event windows have ended, so the current first-party confirmed route highlighted here is the Level Up Override.

Do you need the Sora skin?

No. Sora is an Item Shop cosmetic. The gameplay Kingdom Key is available through match mechanics.

The cosmetic Keyblade sold in the Shop is also separate from the Battle Royale weapon. Buying one does not unlock the other.

What is the Recovery Override?

The crossover also adds a Recovery Override. Epic says that while it is active, eliminating a player with any weapon drops healing orbs. It does not directly grant a Kingdom Key, but it is part of the same Kingdom Hearts gameplay event.
