What is the Kingdom Key in Fortnite?

The Kingdom Key is Sora’s signature Keyblade and now appears in Fortnite in two separate forms:

• a cosmetic Keyblade sold through the Item Shop;
• a Battle Royale weapon with Mythic availability through the Kingdom Hearts Level Up Override.

Those two systems should not be confused. Buying a cosmetic does not grant the gameplay weapon.

What does the gameplay Kingdom Key do?

Epic confirms the Battle Royale Kingdom Key can:

• perform melee combos;
• call down a lightning bolt on opponents.

How do you get the Mythic Kingdom Key?

Epic’s launch post confirms that the Level Up Override spawns a Mythic Kingdom Key for every squad member at their current location.

Is the Keyblade Pickaxe the same item?

No. The official Shop lists a Keyblade cosmetic for 800 V-Bucks. That is a permanent cosmetic purchase, not the Battle Royale weapon.

Is the Kingdom Key tied to Sora?

Yes. Sora is the character most directly associated with the Kingdom Key in the crossover. Sora’s outfit is sold in the Shop for 1,800 V-Bucks.

You do not need to own Sora to use the Battle Royale weapon.

What other Kingdom Hearts gameplay items are live?

The launch also includes Sea Salt Ice Cream, which Epic says restores health and shields, plus two Kingdom Hearts Overrides:

• Recovery Override — player eliminations drop healing orbs;
• Level Up Override — spawns Mythic Kingdom Keys for the squad.
